Who doesn’t feel very good when sending something a grade harder than what he usually does? So, I think, very few climbers are 100% committed to the “I don’t care about the grade!” thing. That puts a lot of pressure on us, route setters, to put the right tag on the right route so the climber can tell if he or she is climbing well today. Grading is a complex and delicate part of the route setter’s job and for this post I wanted to stop and think as much as possible about the subject. I asked myself different relevant questions and tried to answer them as precisely as I could. The goal here is not to tell you “this is how things should be done”, but to share some of my thoughts and
